Mr. Capra's Educational Pursuits in Antarctica

Fuchs Foundation Antarctic Expedition 2010

Science Project *UPDATED*

In this expedition I will be, firstly, looking at Ultraviolet Radiation and other important parameters througout the locations where the team will be. The intricacies of the project is still under development, but it has two main strands:

  • ‘How Tough is your Sunscreen?’ –         A Project to engage students in real-life Physics-Chemistry as well as educating them about the dangers of UV radition and Skin Cancer;
  • Ultraviolet Radiation & Antarctic Life – A project to contribute to the study of ultraviolet radiation and its possible impact in antarctic life as well as a measure of “efficiency” of the ozone layer.
  • Environmental Monitoring during our expedition is a spin-off small-scale project being developed.
  • Human Physiology in the expedition is a possible group project. A continuation of Phil Avery’s FFAE07 project. Though discussions still need to be held over this.
